Katy (to the right) choose the gown her grandmother wore in 1960, her mother wore in 1983, and she wore in 2012.  The silk netting had disintegrated, so Claire stitched the lace onto a netting to stabilize the gown and fitted the gown to the bride.

This shows why antique and heirloom lace is so beautiful.  This example has 6 different backgrounds which is very rare in today's laces.

This is an heirloom guipure lace from the mother's wedding gown for the bride's veil.

The whole guipure lace wedding veil.  All the lace from this veil was from the mother's wedding gown.
